Short Story Time

For 15 years, this sassy rescued girl, was my soul dog.

Lava was my why behind everything I did in life. 

She was the only one consistent as I navigated life through my 20's and 30's.

When I lost her in February of 2024, my heart was filled with so much grief, it seemed almost too heavy to bear.

To lose my best friend without being able to say goodbye didn't seem real.  Or fair.

I fell into a dark place; I hope I never visit there again.

The week of her passing, I received a beautiful blanket from a kind soul that I had never met before. That blanket was what gave me the strength to start looking for the light again.

Within weeks, I was overwhelmed with gifts from friends and family to keep her spirt alive; that pushed away all the darkness. 

That feeling of joy from a pillow or a garden stone- it's almost indescribable unless you felt it in that moment.

It was HOPE. 

In honor of those who brought light back to me- that feeling needs to be shared with whomever is in need of something special to celebrate and remember.
